Rant: Ink By Finch

Updates on 25 October 2014:
I was surprised to receive a call from Joe today regarding my tattoo issues which I blogged below.
Throughout the phone call, he kept apologising and felt very sorry about the stress caused by this tattoo.
I went to his shop and let him take a look at it..

Cut it short:
He offered some solutions for me.
I can see his sincerity when he tried his best to help in all ways he can.
At last I agreed to let him rectify the problems after he gave assurance.
Will be getting my rework on next Saturday.
Will be doing a second post on the rework and final result..
Hopefully he can hold true to his words.

*******************************

This post will be a personal review about my first tattoo.
I paid with my own money and I actually regretted going to this tattoo shop to do it.
I have to blame myself because I should ask the tattoo artist on the spot about all my doubts.
I was too nervous back then that I can't even have a clear mind.
So here's what happened...

I text Joe from Ink by Finch on Tuesday to ask about the tattoo pricing.

SO do take note that I did the second tattoo and the pricing he quoted me was $100.
He mentioned that they do not have numbing cream in their shop so I have to bring mine.
Here's the pic of the tattoo that I did..

Please look at the sizing! Mine was smaller than Ezlink card size.
I paid $130 instead of $100. Don't ask me why?! I do not know the answer.
I was nervous like hell even with numbing cream, I'm still worry that it might hurt!
I can't even remember how much he quoted me before that.
Till we left, BF asked me, I thought was $100?!

I felt cheated. Because the wording was ugly!
My 'S' don't even look like 'S'!
I paid $130 for these shit?!

Maybe he quoted me higher because he knew BF's tattoo was done by another artist.
He bring up his price which I totally unhappy about it.
How can it be $130 with the fonts smaller than the pic I sent him?!
How can it be so ugly that I have to pay $130 for it?

I strongly won't recommend anyone to this shop because it wasn't good enough.
In between my session, he was distracted a few times!
He stopped more than 5 times that I can't even remember.

Now I have to spend my days with an ugly tattoo on my back.
I didn't text him to ask him about it because I don't see the point he will refund me back $30.
Maybe he will just push the blames..

Amazingly, they still have more positive. I don't even know why.
I came across a blog with negative review about them and that case was really bad.

That's all I want to say. Good luck people.
Nights..

    1. Thanks Hui Wen. You are lucky..
My by tattoo artist said there's nothing can be done as wording touch up will only cause the font to get bigger and thicker.
I admit might be the numbing cream that cause the problems but my friend also putted numbing cream.. I don't see his tattoo have problems like mine.
So I only can blame myself for going to a cheap and unskilled shop to get my tattoo done..
      thanks):

  4. He should have shown you a picture of the text before he transferred it onto your back. I think the font just look like this if I'm not wrong. I have mine done there and a few of my friends visits Joe too. Everything looked as what we expected.

  5. Btw I have tattoo on my ribs with the same font (I assume because I saw how the "th" joins and this is how the "s" looks like.

    1. Hi. Thanks for reading. I don't agree with "Everything looked as what we expected."
I want an artist that can help me to adjust or do something slightly different..
If I want the art piece exactly same as the pic I show him/her, might as well look for some cheapo artist to do it?
I'm not saying Joe not good, I just want a artist to do something that can surprise me.

    2. Before he inked it, it would have transferred it to your back. Maybe it was hard for you to check, because my girlfriend checked for me since I can't see it clearly.

    1. Thanks for reading my blog :)
I have no idea why it became like this. Currently my tattoo is quite thick but I would say it so much better.
      Thanks. Riding bike now.

  7. Yup I agree totally. I got my first tattoo by Joe Finch, and I have to say that it was the worst decision of my life. I got a script tattoo like you, and it's the ugliest thing ever. Not even half an hour after it was obvious his needle had gone too deep and caused the script to smudge. With time it got increasingly worse. Now years later, I am paying thousands to remove a shitty as fuck tattoo. I wish I could upload a picture but I am too embarrassed of this ugly thing. Ink by Finch, Joe Finch, anything Finch is likely to be a mistake.

    1. Totally understand how you feel. 3 years passed, nothing can be done other than covering up which I'm still planning whether should I. Most of the time, my back are covered up so no one can see this ugly tattoo.
